I created a vivid and bold visual identity for this historic moment in MMA history, capturing the essence of a groundbreaking event for the Professional Fighters League. As one of the fastest-growing sports with one of the youngest and most passionate fanbases worldwide, MMA is on a mission to reach fans and discover talent in every corner of the globe. Leading this charge is the PFL, with their innovative initiative to bring global MMA to Africa through South Africa’s first major MMA event, headlined by UFC veteran Johnny Eblen and rising star Dakota Ditcheva.
Months in advance, I developed a striking and dynamic visual system that emphasized the intensity and energy inherent to MMA, as well as the rising talent from the region. This design not only highlighted the raw power and vigor of the sport but also celebrated Africa’s burgeoning MMA scene.
This event in Cape Town marked a new chapter for MMA on the continent, serving as a launchpad for PFL’s African tournament and continuing the promotion’s recent "Champions Series." The series showcased reigning legends like Johnny Eblen, Corey Anderson, and AJ McKee defending their legacies against emerging stars such as Denis Goltsov and Costello Van Steenis.
PFL Cape Town was a milestone, a kickoff for African MMA that drew global attention through major broadcasts on partners like ESPN and DAZN. In response to this significant occasion, I crafted an impactful, vivid visual identity that kept fighters and fans energized. The bold, consistent call-to-action elements ensured fans knew where to watch and understood what was at stake, ultimately amplifying the event’s importance and creating a lasting visual impact in MMA history.
